HAPPINESS: A Mirage?

Ever wondered how deceiving the idea of happiness is and just how detrimental it can be if left unchecked.

Most of us, at one point or another, have subscribed to the notion that "Happiness" is the only North Star in their lives.

It's that lingering feeling that begins to make you wonder whether it's even a real thing or not. It's when you begin to wonder if you've been bamboozled into thinking that you could do Step 1 then Step 2 then Step 3 to be happy.

The problem with constantly looking for happiness is that it makes us disregard and invalidate the entire spectrum of emotions we are capable of feeling and experiencing. This never-ending search puts blinders around our eyes (you know, those things put on horses' eyes so that they keep walking forward and don’t get distracted) and creates a tunnel vision that doesn’t allow us to acknowledge everything around us.

I don’t subscribe to positivity-for-the-sake-of-positivity because I now know how important it is to take off those blinders and look at what I may not have been wanting to face.
